SPECIES INFO

The Kauai Amakihi is the species of Amakihi that is found on Kauai. It was created when the original Amakihi spread across the islands as they migrated. These birds eventually stopped moving and adapted with the islands. Each form of the Amakihi is slightly different from the others from color, song, and habitat. The Kauai Amakihi is a common green bird that appears to have some resistance to the diseases. It has been confused as a greener form of the Anianiau. It is slightly larger, about five inches long. It has a dark eye stripe that goes down to the bill which is also black.
