The Vervain Hummingbird (Mellisuga minima) is a species of hummingbird in the Trochilidae family. It is found in the Cayman Islands, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and heavily degraded former forest. The Vervain hummingbird builds the second smallest nest of all birds, about the size of half a walnut shell (the bee hummingbird builds the smallest nest).
