SPECIES INFO

The Andaman Crake (Rallina canningi) is a bird species in the family Rallidae. It is endemic to India.

Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical mangrove forests, and swamps. It is threatened by habitat loss.

This little-known rail was formerly classified as data deficient by the IUCN, due to the lack of reliable information on its status. New research has shown it to be somewhat rare. Consequently, it is listed at Near Threatened status in 2008.
