The Black-bellied Gnateater (Conopophaga melanogaster) is a species of bird in the Conopophagidae family, the gnateaters. It is found in the southern Amazon Basin of Brazil and northwest Bolivia. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

Distribution

Range: south-central Amazon Basin

The range of the Black-bellied Gnateater is in the south-central Amazon Basin, extending eastwards towards downstream areas of the final fourth of the Xingu River system. Its range does not extend north of the Amazon River and its western range limit is the eastern bank of the north-east flowing Madeira River; it extends southwestwards into north-central Bolivia into downstream areas of the Madeira River's tributaries.

The range of Black-bellied Gnateather is centered on the Tapajós River, the downstream two-thirds of this north-flowing river.
