The Heart-spotted Woodpecker (Hemicircus canente) is a species of bird in the Picidae family. It is found in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Habitat
Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.
Description
A small, uniquely shapped, black and buff woodpecker with large, prominently recurved crest on head and very short tail. Basically black with heart-shaped black spots on white shoulders and broad white scapular patches and barring of flight feathers. Whitish throat and plain grey underparts. Female has white forecrown.
