The Invisible Rail, Habroptila wallacii also known as Wallace's Rail or Drummer Rail is a large, up to 35cm long, flightless rail. It is the only member of monotypic genus Habroptila. Both sexes are similar with dark brown plumage, bare red orbital skin, long reddish orange bill and legs.
An Indonesian endemic, the Invisible Rail is confined to swamp forests and wetlands of Halmahera, north Maluku. The diet consists mainly of plant shoots, vegetation matters and insects. The call is drum-like sound with loud scream.
Due to ongoing habitat loss, small population size, limited range and hunting in some areas, the Invisible Rail is evaluated as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
