The Red-backed Hawk (Buteo polyosoma) is a species of bird of prey in the Accipitridae family. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Falkland Islands, Peru, and Uruguay.

Its natural habitats are temperate forests, subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, and subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland.
