The Striped Honeyeater, (Plectorhyncha lanceolata), is a honeyeater native to Australia.
Description
The Striped Honeyeater is a medium-sized bird with an average length of 22cm. It is adorned with grey feathers covering its body and brown wings and tail.
Distribution
This species is found mainly in eastern Australia, predominantly inland. It lives in forests and woodlands as well as urban areas.
Reproduction
The Striped Honeyeater builds a cup-shaped nest made from grass and other materials a few metres above the ground and both parents share in the incubation of the eggs.
Diet
As a honeyeater, this species consumes nectar and plant sugars. It will also eat insects, fruit and berries.
