SPECIES INFO

The Varied Bunting (Passerina versicolor) belongs to the Passerina genus of birds in the Cardinal family Cardinalidae.

It is mostly found in Mexico, with a northern breeding range that extends into the furthest south parts of the U.S. states of Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. Two small disjunct populations occur, one in southern Mexico, and even smaller in Guatemala.
