SPECIES INFO

The Visayan Pygmy-babbler (Sterrhoptilus pygmaeus) is a bird species endemic to the Philippines. The genus Sterrhoptilus was formerly included in Stachyris and is usually placed in the family Timaliidae. It is a close relative of the white-eyes however, and like these might arguably be placed in a distinct family Zosteropidae.

It was formerly included with the Mindanao Pygmy-babbler (S. plateni) under the common name of "Pygmy Babbler".

Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. It is becoming rare due to habitat loss.
